How to Use Modify Panel



Modify panel use to:
·         Change the creation parameters for existing objects.
·         Apply modifiers to adjust the geometry of an object or a set of objects.
·         Change the parameters of modifiers and choose their components.
·         Delete modifiers.


·         Convert a parametric object to an editable object

First Select the object >> Go to Modify Panel

Primitives In 3ds Max

STANDARD PRIMITIVES

1.Box
Box produces one of the simplest of the primitives. Cube is the only variation of Box. However, you can vary the scale and proportion to make many different kinds of rectangular objects, from large, flat panels and slabs to tall columns and small blocks.
2.Cone
The Cone button on the Creation command panel lets you produce round cones, either upright or inverted.
3.Sphere
Sphere produces a full sphere, or a hemisphere or other portion of a sphere. You can also "slice" a sphere about its vertical axis.
4.GeoSphere
Use GeoSphere to make spheres and hemispheres based on three classes of regular polyhedrons.
5.Cylinder
Cylinder produces a cylinder, which you can "slice" around its major axis.
6.Tube
The Tube primitive is similar to the cylinder with a hole in it. Tube produces both round and prismatic tubes.
7.Torus
       Torus produces a ring with a circular cross section, sometimes referred to as a doughnut. You can combine three smoothing options with rotation and twist settings to create complex variations.
8.Pyramid
The Pyramid primitive has a square or rectangular base and triangular sides.
9.Teapot
The Teapot primitive produces a composite object comprising a lid, body, handle, and spout. You can choose to make the whole teapot at once (the default), or any combination of parts. Because the Teapot is a parametric object, you can choose which parts of the teapot to display after creation.
10.Plane
The Plane object is a special type of flat polygon mesh that can be enlarged by any amount at render time. You can specify factors to magnify the size or number of segments, or both.


EXTENDED PRIMITIVES

1.Hedra
Use Hedra to produce objects from several families of polyhedra.
2.Torus Knot
Use Torus Knot to create a complex or knotted torus by drawing 2D curves in the normal planes around a 3D curve. The 3D curve (called the Base Curve) can be either a circle or a torus knot.
3.ChamferBox
Use ChamferBox to create a box with beveled or rounded edges.
4.ChamferCyl
Use ChamferCyl to create a cylinder with beveled or rounded cap edges.
5.OilTank
Use OilTank to create a cylinder with convex caps.
6.Capsule
Use Capsule to create a cylinder with hemispherical endcaps.
7.Spindle
Use the Spindle primitive to create a cylinder with conical caps.
8.L-Ext Extended
Use L-Ext to create an extruded L-shaped object.
9.Gengon
Use Gengon to create an extruded, regular-sided polygon with optionally filleted side edges.
10.C-Ext Extended
Use C-Ext to create an extruded C-shaped object.
11.RingWave
Use the RingWave object to create a ring, optionally with irregular inner and outer edges whose shapes can be animated. You can also animate the growth of the ringwave object, and you can use keyframing to animate all numeric settings.
12.Prism
Use Prism to create a three-sided prism with independently segmented sides.
13.Hose
The Hose object is a flexible object that you can connect between two objects, whereupon it reacts to their movement. You can specify the overall diameter and length of the hose, the number of turns, and the diameter and shape of its "wire."



Customizing the 3ds Max

UNITS SETUP 

The Units Setup dialog establishes the unit display method, giving you the choice between generic units and standard units (feet and inches, or metric)

LAYOUTS
Using the Layout Panel of the Viewport Configuration dialog, you can pick from the different layouts and customize the viewports in each. The viewport configuration is saved with your work.

CHANGING THE VIEW TYPE
     Use the View cube or Click the viewport you want to change, and then press one of the keyboard shortcuts in the following table.

A – 3DS MAX ICON BUTTON
 
This is for access...
New                      : For load New 3ds max file with current settings
Reset                    : Load the new 3ds max file with default settings
Open                     : Open excising 3ds max file
Save                     : To Save the 3ds Max file (you can save the file under 2013,2012,2011 or 2010 ver.)
Save as                 : Save a copy of the 3ds Max file in different name
Import                  : Import a 3ds model from another file/ software
Export                   : Export max model in to another file
Sent To                 : To send your 3d model to Maya, Soft Image, Mudbox or Motion builder
Reference              :Manage links and other features regarding the 3ds max file
Manage                 :Set project folder in 3ds max
Properties             : To add a summary of the project

B – QUICK ACCESS TOOLBAR
Facilitate for access New Scene (Ctrl + N), Open (Ctrl + O), Save (Ctrl + S),
Undo (Ctrl + Z) & Redo (Ctrl + Y)

C – WORK SPACE CHANGER
To change the 3ds max workspace in to
Default
Alternate Layout
Default with enhanced layout

D – INFORMATION CENTER
This is for access...
Search                                  : Display the search result
Subscription Center               : Enrol to become a member and access the subscription service
Communication Center          :To get an Updates and announcement
Favorite                               : Display the favorite panel
Help                                     :TO access the help

E – CLOSE, RESTORE & MINIMISE BUTTON
Control the 3Ds Max application Window

F – MENU BAR
So Many menus like Edit, Tools, Views ,Group etc. – Sub menus are  also include

G – STRANDED TOOL BAR
To access some important commands in 3D max

H – MENUS (VIEW PORT & WIRE FRAME)
For change the active Viewport in to Top/Front/Left etc, and to change the object view in to,
Wire frame to Realistic / Realistic to wire frame (F3)
Realistic to Realistic plus Edge faces / Realistic plus Edge faces to Realistic  (F4)

I – VIEW PORT           
By default Top (T), Left(L), front(F) and Perspective(P) viewports can be show. But  Orthographic
(U), Right and back and bottom(B) view ports are available

J – GRID
The home grid provides a visual reference for creating objects in a scene.(G)

K – VIEW PORT LAY OUT TAB
Select any of lay out from the panel (Standard layouts and Animation Layout)
Views >>  Viewport Configuration >> Layout

L – SCRIPT LISTENER
The MAXScript Listener window is an interactive interpreter for the MAXScript language and works similar to a DOS command prompt window.

M – MAIN PANELS.
There are six main panels as Create  / Modify /Motion / Hierarchy / Display and Utilities

N –  DROP DOWN LIST
The drop down list content will be display under Create menu
It is consisted with Standard Primitives, Extended Primitives, Compound Objects, Particle Systems, Patch Grids, Body objects, Doors, NURBS surfaces, Windows, Mental ray, AEC Objects, Dynamic Objects, Stairs and some Third party plugging like V-ray, RPC objects

O – SUB PANEL
There are some sub panels can be display under Create main panel as Geometry, Shapes, Light, Cameras,  Helpers and Utilities

P – COMMAND PANEL
To change the drawn object properties and access the hundreds of  modifiers from the list

Q – VIEW CUBE
Facilitate you to the rotate the view port

R – STEERING WHEEL
To rotate the view port through the XY plane

S – NAVIGATION PANEL
Commands like Zoom(Z), Orbit, Pan etc, which is helps to navigate the view port

T – ANIMATION PANEL
So many buttons are included in here,
Buttons for play animation,
Button for configure the animation

U – ANIMATION RECORDER BUTTON
Auto key and Set key button for make animation with different scenarios

V – COORDINATION BOX
To put the coordination in to Move or Rotate an object through the X,Y and Z access

W – ISOLATE SELECTION
To Isolate the selected object and toggle the Isolate

X – ANIMATION TIME LINE
To guide the animation

Y – TIME SLIDER
To feed the animation in required frames
The time slider works in conjunction with the track bar to allow you to view and edit your animation. The slider itself shows the current frame and lets you move to any frame in the active time segment by dragging. Right-clicking the slider bar opens the Create Key dialog, which lets you create transform keys without key framing.

Z – CURVE EDITOR
Curve Editor is a Track View mode that allows you to work with motion expressed as function curves on a graph. It lets you visualize the interpolation of the motion: the object transformations that 3ds Max creates between the key frames. You can easily see and control the motion and animation of the objects in the scene using the keys on the curves and their tangent handles. The alternative mode is Dope Sheet, which lets you work directly with keys instead of curves.
